This Monday night, Eamonn sits in for Carl, linking Irish reed-player/composer Seán Mac Erlaine; an orchestral reading of Bach's "Air" by Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin; Finnish folk artist Milla Viljamaa; the late Sandy Denny; a solo piano interpretation of Scarlatti by Joseph Moog; Billie Holiday (see video clip with Louis Armstrong, from the movie "New Orleans"); a re-issue of La Capella Reial de Catalunya's 1988 album "Song Of The Sybil"; very recent Hesperion XXI; and a selection from  "Roots", the debut by Irish bassist/composer David Redmond for Fresh Sound New Talent,  the same label from Barcelona which released early recordings by Brad Mehldau and Kurt Rosenwinkel.

This Sunday night, we'll air a double helping of Beethoven, including a reading of "Moonlight Sonata" on guitar; guitarist Jan Akkerman; Finnish folk courtesy of Saaga Ensemble; new Clannad, from the CD "Nádúr"; a sample from Ahmad Jamal's 2013 studio recording "Saturday Morning"; part of Samuel Barber's "Cello Concerto"; 2 Pierce Turner songs; Mexican singer-songwriter Lila Downs; Shostakovich, interpreted by Glenn Gould (see video); T-Bone Walker, backed by jazzers Teddy Wilson, Louis Bellson and Bob Cranshaw; the voice of Karen Dalton; the last of the week's recordings by Roger Doyle; and a Poulenc sonata for 2 clarinets.

On Saturday's BLUE, we'll hear Oliver and Chris Wood, i.e. The Wood Brothers; 2 recordings by Pekko Kappi (see video), a Finnish-born exponent of the bowed lyre; John Tilbury will perform a Skempton piano miniature; we'll also listen to a reading of "Albatross" by Ulf Wakenius; 3 Morricone movie soundtracks; 3 x Joni; 3 pieces with a Britten connection; George Shearing (and Louis Stewart), playing a tune by Chick Corea; some symphonic Beethoven; as well as more recordings by this week's BLUE TUNES recommendation, Roger Doyle.
